WHICH MELBOURNE SUBURBS DO I TRAVEL TO?
As I’m based in Maribyrnong, popular suburbs that I service are Ascot Vale, Footscray, West Footscray, Maidstone, Moonee Ponds, Parkville, Flemington and Brunswick. However, I also travel to South Melbourne, Melbourne CBD and Keilor East for private & corporate yoga classes. Keep in mind that any one-on-one sessions outside of a 20-minutes travel time will incur an additional travel fee.
ARE PRIVATE YOGA LESSONS WORTH IT?
I believe yoga is a very personal practice, and there is no such thing as a perfect posture. There are however perfect postures for YOU. We all have different bodies, and what works for one person might not work at all for the next. In order to reap the most benefits from a yoga practice - besides cultivating a consistent practice - it is important to know how to modify movements and poses based on your strength, flexibility and level of fitness.
Especially if you are dealing with an injury or chronic pain, listening to your body is key to avoid further injury.
My yoga classes have a strong emphasis on body awareness and breath awareness. I will always encourage you to make the practice your own. Whether you are looking for back pain relief, want to increase your strength or learn how to deal with feelings of overwhelm, one-on-one yoga sessions are a great starting point to cultivate a regular practice in order to help you feel better and move more efficiently, on the mat and in your daily life.

are private yoga classes for you?
Have you ever said that you ‘cannot do yoga because you’re not flexible/strong enough’? No judgement if you have from my end, this used to be me. Nowadays, I do believe that using this as a reason not to move your body is like saying you ‘cannot have a bath because you’re too dirty’. Just like a bath will help you to get clean, so will yoga help you to become more flexible and stronger.
Your body is constantly in a ‘battle’ to find balance. Flexibility and strength are both key to help you move well and feel good. When I first stepped on the mat many many years ago, I had just recovered from a spinal injury which was caused by stress, bad postural habits and a lack of mobility. I had so much tension and tightness in my body that I couldn’t even touch my toes. I was overwhelmed by the lack of guidance when attending a big studio class, and I booked myself a bunch of private yoga classes to become more comfortable on the mat.
I started practicing 3 to 4 times per week and my strength and flexibility improved very quickly. My goal was not to ‘be able to touch my toes’ or to ‘fold all the way forward with my nose touching my knees’. My aim was to get rid of all the unwanted tension in my body.
As I learned to trust my body and feel more confident that I wouldn’t injure my spine again, I explored new depths and played around with my ‘edge’. My body became more mobile (flexible without losing strength) and slowly my tension eased and any inexplicable little aches and pains vanished.
If I had never booked that personal yoga trainer, I probably would have never created a consistent yoga practice and I wouldn’t be where I am today.
We all have our own reasons to practice yoga. Asking yourself WHY you want to step on your mat is a good starting point. If you are strong and fit, free from any injuries and you love the vibe of large studio classes, then private yoga classes are probably not for you.
However, if you feel lost in group classes, or you want to learn more about postural modifications for your body, then chances are you will benefit from one or more private yoga sessions.
The below questions will help you determine whether customised yoga lessons are valuable for you. If you answer YES to 3 or more questions, I believe private sessions will help you kickstart a yoga practice that is beneficial to YOU.

COST OF PRIVATE YOGA CLASSES IN MELBOURNE
Prices of one-on-one yoga lessons in Melbourne range from $80 per class to $200 per class, depending on the teacher’s experience and the travel time involved. In recent years there has been a huge influx of yoga teachers in Melbourne (and the rest of the world) which has resulted in teachers offering their services for as little as $45 per hour. It is worth noting here to please keep in mind that in addition to teaching the actual class, yoga instructors also have to calculate the extra time to prep the class, travel to and from their student’s home, as well as pay for indemnity and liability insurance. And after all that, we also pay tax. With this in mind, I have listed my prices below for full transparency.
